WEEKEND HOMEWORK

Choose one of the texts we looked at in class, watch/read the materials again, and write a    1.5-2 page analytical freewrite—with examples and reasoning—answering the following questions:

      Would you consider the text a piece of literature?

      If you were a teacher, would you assign this “reading” to your students?   Why or why not?

      What qualities are you looking for/analyzing when you answer the above questions?

Work on the final draft of your censorship research paper.  The following items are due on Friday.  Points will be taken off if your two-pocket folder is not prepared on time (at the beginning of class on Friday).  You will need to include the following items in your folder and organize them in the following way:

In one pocket you should include:

Your final draft and works cited page

In the other pocket you should include (from top to bottom):
1. the checklist given out on Wednesday in the Fiction room
2.  the final draft of your notes
3.  your rough draft
4.  your outline
5.  your peer editing sheet

**REMINDER:  BRING TO CLASS TOMORROW YOUR INDEPENDENT READING BOOK FOR OUR NORTHANGER ABBEY UNIT!

1) Study for your vocabulary quiz tomorrow on Northanger Abbey Vocabulary List 1 words.
2) Think about what book you want to read for the Northanger final project.  Any book you want.  YOU choose!
3)  Work on your position research paper.  Due Friday.

Finish preparations for Monday's debate.  If you are making changes to your opening/closing statements/crossfire questions make sure you print out a copy for me.

Remember that you have two assignments due next week to prepare for:
1.  Northanger Abbey Vocabulary Quiz (Tuesday)
2.  Final Draft of your position research paper is due on Friday!
