1. Read and annotate Act 3, Scene 1, 2, and 3.  This is around twenty pages of reading total.  Please make sure to make 2-3 marks per page when you are annotating. 
2.  Continue your word study.

4.  Study your vocabulary words

Long Weekend Homework

Finish reading Act 2 and...
1.   find 3+ quotations from the text which show characterization. 

Copy the entire quotation with the proper line citation onto your characterization chart (from Wednesday’s class).  Add more columns to your chart for new characters.

2.  Pay close attention to lines 280-355 as you read:

How does Iago work Cassio into his plan? Be specific. How does he get Cassio to cooperate? (You don’t need to write an answer to these questions; you should know the answers though.)

3.  Read “The Source of Othello” by Cinthio & complete comparison T-chart

1. Finish reading Act 1, Scene 3. 
2.  Scene presentation for those who are assigned this scene.
3. Word Study:

1.  Search LEME for meanings/uses of your word (during the 1500-1650)

LEME website: http://leme.library.utoronto.ca/

This is a multilingual database.  Please record examples that are written in English.

2. At the top of a clean page in your notebook write: “Word Study”

  1. Entry #1:  Write down 3 definitions or examples from the LEME database that give you an untraditional meaning of the word.

  2. Entry #2:  At least one definition from American Heritage Dictionary or another 21st century dictionary.

5.  Entry #3:  Cite appearances of your words in Act I. (all words are present in Act I).  For each appearance cite the location, context, and the speaker.  In addition include a short one or two sentence paraphrase of what the character is saying.

Your assignment tonight is to freewrite on the topics: belonging, power, and privilege.  The exact prompt and questions can be found in your "Getting Started" Packet (question #6).

Today new vocabulary was handed out.  Remember that vocabulary flashcards are now extra credit.  Quizzes are still on Fridays.
Those who were absent should copy notes on William Shakespeare fromtoday's powerpoint.

1. Final Draft of your TFA essay.  Please remember to submit your essays onto Turnitin by your class period, Monday morning.  Make sure that your essays are PROOFREAD and properly formatted. 
2.  Staple in a packet the following: rough draft, writing station work, thesis statements, and thesis charts. Your packet is due on Monday.
