February Vacation Homework

In preparation for our next unit, I would like you to select a book to read over break. You don't need to read the whole book, but you should read at least half of it. You may be asking yourself, what are the limitations? Well, there aren't too many. This book will be the text that your final project for Northanger Abbey focuses on. The project assignment sheet is attached here, but for now what you should know is that your book needs to be longer than 100 pages, be age appropriate, meaning, no picture books, and be something that you are interested in. You final project will be answering the question: What is a "good book"? You will be asked to write a proposal that proposes the adoption of your book into a high school classroom (whether that is an English class or Psychology class).
In addition to reading half of your independent reading book, I'd like you to complete half of the attached data sheet. A data sheet is a record of your book - one that is broken down into specific elements such as: plot, setting, symbols, characters, etc. You will need to have half of the data sheet completed by Monday, February 28th AND half of your book read.
The data sheet with explanation is attached here.
A blank Data Sheet (one that you can fill out electronically) is attachedhere.
