We are meeting in the computer lab again tomorrow. Same labs as today.
By the end of the period tomorrow you will need to have a draft of your article completed and all of your interviews transcribed. Please work on both tonight if you feel like you will not be able to have this work completed by the end of class tomorrow.
Remember that for the newspaper, each group needs to have at least one image that says something about your "department."

Dear English 10
Honors Students,
Before you start your work today, please make sure to
pass in both Things Fall Apart rough
drafts and your peer editing sheets. Make
sure your name is on EVERYTHING. Your final draft is due on Turnitin at 3PM
TODAY.
Today you are to finish all of your data gathering.
You have an entire period to interview each other, research, and transcribe
the interviews you already have. Please
make sure to keep the volume inside the
classroom low, so that all individuals can have a productive work period. Tomorrow, you will be outlining your
articles, so it is really important that all of your “research” for your
article has been completed.
Please find two newspaper articles to read for homework
and annotate them, looking at the “hook,” how the journalist included research in
their article, and how the article was concluded. Look at the sorts of transition words used to
introduce the evidence? How long are the
direct quotations? How does the article
end? What’s the bottom line? Both of
these articles should be brought into class on Tuesday so that you can use them
as a model for your own articles. I will
check these annotations on Wednesday with your article outlines.
I have also left a note for the substitute allowing the
following students to leave class for interviews:
Savannah, Catalina, Sarah, Mahmood, Keshena, Gentry,
Henry, Will, Ana, and Sarrana.
Please email me if you have any questions. I will be available after and before school
both today and tomorrow if you have any questions.
Take care,
Ms. LeeKeenan

1) Weekend Homework:
i.
Interview individuals not in this class. Because I
will be out, both Monday and Tuesday, you will not be able to wander the halls
interviewing individuals during class.
Reaching out to your interviewee’s to gather information will need to be
done on your own time.
ii.
Final draft of your TFA paper. The final draft needs to be submitted onto
Turnitin by 3PM. It will be marked late if you submit it after 3PM. You need
to anticipate any technology problems you may have or have had in the past.
iii.
Rough drafts (both drafts) with the peer
workshop handout need to be passed in on Monday. Please make sure that your name is on everything and all documents go in the
silver wire basket.

TFA Final Project: The Insider's Scoop is attached here. A full rough draft (from introduction to conclusion) is due tomorrow. You will have the opportunity to swap papers with someone, so please make sure your drafts are printed out at the beginning of class tomorrow. I would also like you to read at least one article from this month's Register Forum (the school newspaper). If you were absent today, you can read an article from any other newspaper. Please take notes on the Inverted Pyramid graphic (found on the last page of the TFA Final Project assignment sheet). You are looking for the 5Ws, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd details, and the final detail included. These elements make up the bare bones of every newspaper article.
