1. Read and annotate (around two marks per page) ALL of Act 3, Scenes 1- 3. (20 pages of reading)
2. Scene presentations for Act 3, Scene 1-3.
3. Review Iago’s soliloquy and cut out any unnecessary lines.  Put a star next to the important lines.

1)  Response Paper on one of the “Written Debrief” discussion questions:

—  What does Shakespeare include in the play that the filmmaker choose to remove, add or change?  What effect do these choices have on how we perceive the themes of the work?

—   Which medium—text or film—do we find more effective?  To what extent does Othello being a play rather than say, a novel, affect your decision? 

 

2)  Finish reading and annotating Act 2.

3)  Scene presentation for Act 2, Scenes 2- 3 only.

4)  Possible quiz on Act 1&2 tomorrow.

Weekend homework is as follows:

—  Please read and annotate Act 2, Scene 1-2 of Othello. 

—  Scene presentations for Act 1, Scene 3, Act 2, Scene 1, and Act 2, Scene 2.

—  Write a well-developed paragraph (8-12 sentences) addressing the following question: Does Othello’s status as an outsider in Venice affect the way others treat him? 

—  Please Follow the M.E.A.L format and use at least 2 interpretive sentences.

ANOTHER SNOW DAY!

I hope you are all enjoying your third snow day in what feels like three weeks.  I just wanted to remind you all that you have a vocabulary quiz tomorrow on the ten words that were passed out on Monday.
Please also use this extra time to set up your Turnitin accounts.

2) Read and annotate Act 1, Scene 2 and Act 1, Scene 3, lines 1-196.

Read and annotate Act 1, Scene 1.  You should have at least two annotations per page.
Read and annotate the essay, "A Cultural Context for Othello."

I'm sorry I was out today!  My daughter has an ear infection and I had to stay home with her.  I know that you were in good hands with Ms. Devlin though. 

Your homework tonight is to write an original sonnet and response paper.  Your response paper doesn't need to be longer than 1.5 pages, typed, double-spaced.  You received guidelines in class today, but I have attached them here as well.

2.       Read two of the four sonnets: 87, 61, 57, 40.  Pick one of those two to translate in your own words.

3.       Signatures for your syllabus and materials are due tomorrow.
